By sealing the lips around the AirMax Breather™, the musician will keep their mouth soft and relaxed. The diameter of the AirMax Breather™ as placed between the lips causes the player’s throat to open and tongue to remain down and out of the way. This allows the air to flow freely through an open air passageway and will optimize the amount of air used during inhalation and exhalation.
Another important component of the AirMax Breather™ is the ability to hear the air speed used while inhaling and exhaling. The musician should strive to maintain the same energy of sound, both in and out, with an instant turn-around between inhaling and exhaling.
As the musician completes their breathing exercise with the AirMax Breather™, they should focus on the following points while playing their instrument:
- The corners of the mouth should remain forward and
relaxed.
- The shape of the mouth cavity should feel the
same as with the AirMax Breather™, with the
throat open and the tongue flat and relaxed.
- While breathing with an instrument, there should not
be the air sound present that is heard while practicing
the AirMax Breather™. Using the same shape in
the mouth cavity as used with the AirMax Breather™
will eliminate this air sound. A loud breathing
sound means that something (usually the tongue) is
blocking the air passageway, which will decrease the
amount of air used. There should be little or no
air sound heard while breathing with an instrument.
- The speed of air during inhalation and exhalation should remain constant at all times.
Many breathing exercises are available for students, but the AirMax Breather™ is the only simple, tangible exercise where musicians can automatically feel what their face and breathing should be like while playing their instrument without confusion or guessing. Transferring from exercise to instrument is now easy. The AirMax Breather™ is simple enough for a beginner student to use and understand, but advanced enough to help experienced musicians improve their breathing.
Four different resistant levels are available according to age, experience, and instrument type. These resistant levels will strengthen the muscles used for breathing.
If used correctly on a consistent basis, the AirMax Breather™ will strengthen the lung muscles, increase endurance, increase air capacity, improve tone and vibrato, and enhance musicality.
